The Tour de Grove Street Sprints and Drag Races
Fast. Furious. The Tour de Grove continues Saturday Night with the Tour de Grove Street Sprint competition. Open to 100 male and 100 female athletes, the theme for the night will be “Deeds not Words.” Athletes will demonstrate what is under the hood as they go head to head in a contest that will reveal the favorites for Sunday’s NRC Tour de Grove circuit race.
$1750 will be on the line as racers put the hammer down. Place your bets and line the streets as the excitement builds towards the Grand Finale. An open category race, the Tour de Grove Street Sprints will be won by the fastest man and fastest woman, no discussion necessary.
Rules
Round 1. 100 riders, 20 heats of 5, Top 2 Advance to the next round.
Round 2. 40 riders, 8 heats of 5, Top 2 Advance to the next round.
Round 3. 16 riders, 4 heats of 4, Top 2 Advance to the next round.
Round 4. 8 riders, 2 heats of 4, Winners advances to Finale, 2nd Place advances to Podium Round. Bottom Four advance to Consolation Round.
Round 5. 1 heat of 4 riders to determine 5th-8th place.
Round 6. Podium Round. Head to Head to determine 3rd and 4th place.
Round 7. The Grand Finale. More cowbell.
The Tour de Grove Drag Race
Not really an intermission. Not just for your rank and file USA Cycling licensed athletes. We’re inviting the areas fastest Celebrity Queens, Drag Queens, Drag Kings, Leather Bears and Otters to compete in a head to head to head bike race in after the USAC Men’s and Women’s Sprint competition. Winners receive prizes, money and glory that will last forever. BICYCLES WILL BE PROVIDED by Big Shark Bicycle Company. (Single Speed Electra Hawaii Cruisers…)
We will be judging competitors based on three challenging criteria: Speed, Moxie and Costume.
Primping Station provided on-site by Kolors Salon. Drag Racing Drag Racers in Drag will have access to the primping Skillz of Kevin Idoux. Kevin will make sure that all of our competitors will look and feel their very best pre, post and during the competition.We recommend their website- it’s ROCKIN. More information will be forthcoming.
The Skinny: At 10:00 pm, following the professional Street Sprint races will be heats from Team STL racing and St. Louis’ own Big Crank Cycling Team- Tearing it UP with the same intensity and intention as the professional racers
The Pageantry Begins with Drag King Races secured by Majestic Events STL.
Then the MAIN EVENT: Drag Queens. Fastest Drag Race EVER. And then.. as a finale, the toast of the Drag Racing Circuit- the Celebrity Drag Races.
Entry is $20 FOR all classes. Swag bags with goodies provided to all entries. Judging will be based on speed for the Team St. Louis, Later races will be judged on Speed and Moxy and Costume.
Check in will be at the Kolors Salon booth located near the Finish line .
